More with Gary Hogg

The author Gary Hogg worked with us on a grade level basis today. He wanted us to know that we all are authors.
Authors are thinkers. If you can think it, you can write it!
You aren't finished until you revise!

We are visualizing a subject that we know about!
We can name more exciting words than big or small!
Revising is the most important thing that an author can do! It takes a long time to get your writing just right!
Details, details - good writers uses details.
Sizes are good. Colors are good. Be specific about items. If you are writing about pizza, tell what kind of pizza: a gooey humongous slice of double cheese with sausage, thick stuffed crust pizza!
Use descriptive words - take it from level one to level two by the choice of words that you use.
Do Not sharpen pencils or get up during writing time. It disturbs your thinking and the thinking of those around you.
